Now halfway through the year, how would you say 2019 is shaping up to be for the lighting industry?
Marketa Rypacek: We think 2019 is shaping up to be a great year for the lighting industry. Commercial establishments are placing much more importance on lighting design and have a much greater understanding and appreciation for how lighting affects the whole customer’s experience, which ultimately has an impact on profit. They are seeking lighting solutions made from high-quality materials that will last, seeing their lighting and store design as a reflection of their brand.
From our own company viewpoint, it has been a busy year introducing lots of new designs and a new waterproof lighting collection, which was launched just in time for the summer.

What has been a standout moment for your company so far this year?
Marketa Rypacek: Our company’s stand out moment this year would have to be winning a BUILD 2019 Home and Garden Award for the ‘Best Full-Service Interior Lighting Company in London’. The awards pride themselves on recognising the very best in design, service and technical innovation and after a rigorous judging process we were delighted to be chosen as the winners, ahead of the fourteen other companies in the category. As a company, we are committed to providing exceptional service and high-quality products to meet and exceed statutory regulations, so we were especially proud to have this recognition. Since our win, we have also been delighted to hear that several of our clients who have used our products in their projects have also been shortlisted for interior awards.

What do you think will be the next big thing in the lighting industry?
Marketa Rypacek: I predict that human-centric design will be the next big thing in lighting. It is based around the theory of Biophilic design - a scientifically proven philosophy of our innate connection with nature and natural elements. Modern humans spend about 90 percent of their time indoors, which has resulted in a need for a deeper connection with nature in our day-to-day lives. This has inspired architects to use nature as the framework, allowing aspects of nature to be built into the indoor environment. This has affected the lighting aspect of office space design immensely, demanding greater amounts of natural light as well as softer lighting. It’s an exciting area that we are keen to explore. Our products are very versatile with almost 1,000 variations to choose from, enabling our customers to create spaces that are completely unique to them.
